Herno

In 1948, from a cotton fabric treated with castor oil sourced from aircraft abandoned after the war, young Giuseppe Marenzi and his wife, Alessandra Diana, ignited Herno’s enduring vocation for experimentation and innovation.

Following the success of its raincoats, Herno expanded in the mid-1950s into womenswear, introducing handwoven, reversible cashmere coats. By 1968, the brand had already established a presence in Japan, opening stores in Osaka and later in Tokyo, before entering the United States market in the early 1980s.

At Herno, quality and sustained investment in production resources have always been paramount, shaping the distinctive character of a company that, in the 2000s, once again embraced transformation in its production processes driven by a level of expertise that is both exceptional and entirely Made in Italy.

Born in 1962, Claudio Marenzi is the President of Herno S.p.A., a company owned by the Marenzi family since its inception. In recent years, he celebrated the brand’s 70th anniversary, having already projected the family business onto the international stage in 2005, when he made the strategic decision to refocus on the Herno name.
